Grupo Frontera were playing weddings and parties around Edinburg, Texas, deep in the Rio Grande Valley, when a TikTok clip of their cover of Morat's "No Se Va" got away from them in 2022. The five of them are Adelaido "Payo" Solís III on lead vocals, Juan Javier Cantú on accordion, Alberto "Beto" Acosta on bajo quinto, Julian Peña Jr. on congas and Carlos Guerrero on drums. What they play is norteño sitting on a cumbia backbeat: miserable lyrics at a tempo you can dance to.
"Bebe Dame" with Fuerza Regida took them to No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs, and "un x100to" with Bad Bunny went to No. 5 on the Hot 100 and won the 2023 Latin Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Song. Their debut album El Comienzo won Best Norteño Album the year after, followed by Jugando a Que No Pasa Nada in 2024 and Lo Que Me Falta Por Llorar in 2025. Shakira called them in for "(Entre Paréntesis)", Maluma for "Por Qué Será" and Carín León for "Que Vuelvas". In 2026 they took two Grammy nominations for Best Música Mexicana Album.
