Irama is the stage name of Filippo Maria Fanti, an Italian singer born in Carrara, Tuscany, in 1995, who moved with his family to the Monza area as a child. He first tried Sanremo in 2016 in the newcomers section with "Cosa resterà" and was knocked out early.
His break came in 2018, when he won the seventeenth edition of the TV talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi. That same year his EP Plume went triple platinum, carried by the hit "Nera". He has been a Sanremo regular since, with "La ragazza con il cuore di latta" in 2019, "La genesi del tuo colore" in 2021, "Ovunque sarai" in 2022, where he finished fourth, and "Lentamente" in 2025. His ballads lean on big, aching choruses, and his summer singles like "Mediterranea" go the opposite way.
