Kreise Lyrics in English Johannes Oerding

Below, I translated the lyrics of the song Kreise by Johannes Oerding from German to English.
Often beginning and end are the same point
Since birth the same blood's been pumping through our veins
Every year we start
To freeze at the same time
We blow rings into the air till the smoke drifts away
Hold on tight when the earth spins pirouettes
And we spin along when the hands turn
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
And someday the path crosses again
When we meet again
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
Yet neither of us stands still
Till we meet again
The compass draws each day on the blank page
And the moon replaces the sun every night
I ask myself once more
What's going on with you right now
Poetry on the wall in the pub restroom
Don't hold tight to what you love, just let it go
And if it comes back
Then it's yours alone
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
And someday the path crosses again
When we meet again
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
Yet neither of us stands still
Till we meet again
No matter how far we drift apart
I still see us on the boards
No matter how far apart we are
We share the same center
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
And someday the path crosses again
When we meet again
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
And someday the path crosses again
When we meet again
when everything moves in circles
Then you go left, then I go right
Yet neither of us stands still
When we meet again

SONG MEANING

Kreise – German for "circles" – spins around the idea that life is a giant round-trip. Johannes Oerding paints everyday images of smoke rings drifting away, the moon trading places with the sun, and our planet twirling like a ballerina. All of these loops hint at one big message: beginnings and endings often meet at the very same spot, so separations are rarely final.

The singer talks to someone he cares about: “You go left, I go right” yet the path will cross again because both share the same center. Instead of clinging too tightly, he suggests letting go with trust that true connections orbit back. The song is an uplifting reminder that distance, time, and detours cannot break real bonds – they just set the stage for the next joyful reunion.
