Jupiter Jones came together in 2002 at a party in Germany's rural Eifel region, when singer Nicholas Müller and a few friends started a band and named it after the teenage detective from the Three Investigators books and radio plays. They spent the next couple of years playing anywhere that would have them, opening for the Donots and Muff Potter, before releasing their debut album, Raum um Raum, in 2004.
The band's biggest year came in 2011, when the single Still, from their self-titled fourth album, became the most-played German-language song on German radio for the entire year and picked up an Echo award. Holiday in Catatonia, Das Gegenteil von Allem and Brüllende Fahnen followed across the 2010s before Jupiter Jones broke up in 2017. Nicholas Müller and Sascha Eigner brought the band back in 2021 and have kept it going since, now working with a rotating cast of touring musicians.
