Los Ángeles Azules are a beloved cumbia group from Iztapalapa, Mexico City, formed by six siblings of the Mejía Avante family in 1976. They played neighborhood parties and quinceañeras in their early years, long before their breakthrough came in 1996 with the album Inolvidables and its hit single "Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar," which even went platinum in Argentina.
Since then, the band has reinvented itself by teaming up with guest vocalists from very different genres, including Natalia Lafourcade, Ximena Sariñana, and Fito Páez, bringing their accordion-driven cumbia sound to new generations of fans. In 2018 they made history as the first traditional cumbia group to perform on the main stage at Coachella, cementing their place as one of Mexico's most enduring and joyful musical exports.
