Fredz is Frédéric Carrier, born in 2002 and raised in Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore. He taught himself music at 15 on his sister's guitar, started out producing beats and rapping, and only found his own voice once he stopped hiding his Quebec accent and began writing about plain teenage life.
His first album, Pas d'épines, pas de roses, came out in 2019, followed by Personne ne touche le ciel (2020), Astronaute (2022) and Demain il fera beau (2024), the record with "Ce soir (J'suis dans ma tête)". He hops between rap, pop and guitar songs without settling on one, and his catalogue has passed 120 million streams.
