Grems is a French rapper, graphic designer and graffiti artist, born Michaël Eveno in 1978. He started out in 1998 with the group Hustla and has released a long run of solo albums since.
His rap is deliberately awkward: dense wordplay, abrupt beat changes and a delivery that switches register mid-line. He designs his own covers and visual work, and the two halves of his output are hard to separate from each other.
The French comes fast and carries a lot of verlan and slang, so it is difficult listening, but it is the kind of French that textbooks leave out entirely.
