Escándalo Lyrics in English by Marc Anthony
Escándalo translates directly to "scandal." While it's an easy cognate for English speakers to recognize, it carries a powerful, dramatic weight in this classic salsa hit.
Marc Anthony sings about a passionate love that society disapproves of, a romance so intense that people gossip and call it an escándalo. He uses this word to set up a powerful declaration: their love may be a scandal to others, but the real shame is not knowing how to love at all. This one word captures the song's entire theme of defiant, passionate rebellion.
Marc Anthony turns up the heat in “Escándalo”, a song that shouts, “So what if the world is talking?” The singer admits that loving this person can feel like a thorn, yet he treasures the passion so much that he would gladly carry that tiny pain forever. Whispers swirl through every street corner, labeling their romance a scandal, but instead of hiding, he invites his partner to follow the current and love him even harder.
The message is clear: real love is never shameful. What is truly embarrassing is "not knowing how to love" at all. Marc dreams of escaping with his beloved to the stars where no gossip can reach them, proving that affection is worth defending against every rumor. In short, the song is a vibrant anthem of fearless devotion, urging listeners to dance past the critics and embrace love with unapologetic joy.
