Yami Safdie sings this from the side of the story nobody puts on a greeting card. She is the other woman, she knows it, and she says so in the chorus: "Pero tu amor es prestado" (But your love is borrowed). Once love is a loan, the rest follows. It has to go back, "Y tengo que devolverte" (And I have to give you back), and there is a date on it. She never asks him to leave anyone. She only asks why the visit is so short: "¿Cómo que tienes que irte tan pronto?" (How come you have to leave so soon?).
What saves it from self-pity is that she takes the blame herself. "Y solo es mía la culpa" (And the fault is only mine), she says, and then puts it on a mouth: "Que me dejé ganar por esa boca tuya" (That I let myself be won over by that mouth of yours). Manuel Turizo sings the other half of it, and the song flips a single letter to make the point: the first chorus is "Mañana te vas con tu dueña" (Tomorrow you leave with your owner), the later one "Aunque te vas con tu dueño" (Even though you leave with your owner). Same complaint, both directions. The line doing the most work is the smallest one: "Contigo una noche dura un segundo" (With you a night lasts a second).
