Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido Lyrics in English by KAROL G
Jangueando is a super fun, modern slang word you'll hear a lot in Latin urban music. It's the Spanish version of the English phrase "hanging out", making it a perfect example of Spanglish where English words are adapted into Spanish grammar.
In the song, KAROL G uses it to say, "Hoy estás jangueando con ella" (Today you're hanging out with her). She's setting the scene, imagining her crush out with his current girlfriend while she plans to win him over.
Ever locked eyes with someone who is completely taken and wondered how things would look if you had met them first? That exact 'what if' drives this track from Colombian star KAROL G. Right away, she asks, "¿Qué hubiera sido? Si antes te hubiera conocido" [What would have happened? If I had met you earlier], convinced that instead of being stuck on the sidelines, the two of you would be dancing together "No como amigos" [Not as friends]. She is not shy about her crush at all; she admits she gets jealous seeing his girlfriend, even though she openly concedes the partner is gorgeous.
What makes this track so fun is just how direct and shamelessly confident she gets. She uses the Puerto Rican and Latin American slang verb "jangueando" (hanging out / partying) in "Hoy estás jangueando con ella / Pero después tal vez no" [Today you are hanging out with her / But later, maybe not]. KAROL G even jokes about how great her first name sounds paired with his last name ("Mi nombre suena bien con tu apellido"), waiting for any tiny slip-up in his relationship so she can introduce him as her husband. It is bold, slightly unhinged, and full of irresistible rhythm.
