Satchela Evrard Djedje was born in Orléans in 1992, though he spent part of his childhood in Gagnoa, his father's hometown in Ivory Coast. That split upbringing runs through his music, which blends French rap with the coupé-décalé rhythms he grew up on. He started out as a teenager in the group la Synésia, signed to Universal, before striking out under the name Vegedream in 2017, a nod to his favorite Dragon Ball character, Vegeta.
His debut album, Marchand de sable, arrived in 2018 and turned him into one of France's biggest urban pop exports. He followed it with Ategban in 2019 and has since worked with artists like Ninho and Joé Dwet Filé, building a catalogue that keeps one foot in French rap and the other in Ivorian dance music.
