Pedro Infante was born in Mazatlán, Mexico, in 1917 and became both a ranchera singer and one of the biggest film stars of Mexican cinema's golden age. He died in a plane crash near Mérida in 1957, at 39.
His best-known role is Pepe el Toro, the working-class carpenter of Nosotros los pobres, Ustedes los ricos and Pepe el Toro. In Nosotros los pobres he sings "Amorcito corazón", still one of the most remembered scenes of his career.
