Fai Rumore Lyrics in English Diodato

Below, I translated the lyrics of the song Fai Rumore by Diodato from Italian to English.
You know what I think
That I shouldn't think
That if I think I'm an animal
And if I think of you, you're a soul
Maybe it's this storm
That brings me to you
And I know I shouldn't let myself be found
Without an umbrella even if
I've figured out that
No matter how much I run away
I always come back to you
You make noise here
And I don't know if it's good for me
If your noise suits me
But you make noise, yeah
I can't stand it
This unnatural silence
Between you and me
And I wander around without talking
With nowhere to reach
I wear out my shoes
And maybe my shoes
Know well where to go
I end up in the same places
Exactly those places I had to avoid
And I pretend not to remember
And I pretend to forget
But I get that
No matter how much I run away
I always come back to you
You make noise here
And I don't know if it's good for me
If your noise suits me
But you make noise, yeah
I can't stand it
This unnatural silence between you and me
But you make noise, yeah
I can't stand it
This unnatural silence
And I don't wanna go without anymore
That beautiful noise you make

SONG MEANING

Imagine standing in the middle of a summer storm, raindrops drumming all around you while your heart drums even louder. Fai Rumore is Diodato’s passionate plea to break the awkward quiet that hangs between two people who can’t let go of each other. He calls the loved one an “anima” — a soul — and admits that no matter how far he runs, the thunder of their presence always pulls him back. The “rumore” (noise) is every shout, laugh, tear, and whispered word that proves the connection is still alive.

Roaming the streets, wearing out his shoes, he discovers that silence hurts more than any argument. So he begs, “Make noise!” because the hush feels “innaturale.” In the end, he realises that this beautiful, messy sound of love is exactly what he needs. The song captures the push-and-pull of modern relationships and reminds us that sometimes the loudest declaration of love is simply refusing to stay silent.
