Shinova is a Spanish rock band formed in 2008 in Bérriz, a small town in the Basque Country. The name joins chi, meaning energy, with nova, meaning new.
They began closer to hard rock and moved toward a melodic indie and pop rock sound from their third album onward. Since signing to Warner Music Spain they have become one of the steadiest live acts on the Spanish festival circuit, with albums including Volver, Cartas de navegación and La buena suerte.
The lyrics are written in careful, literary Spanish, which makes them a good place to pick up vocabulary beyond everyday conversation.
