It was the first time that my heart turned its back on me
I was able to appear with someone who in my life does not add up
I forgave her outbursts and padded her sweet claws
As if by removing iron, the bad was better
She claimed my intentions, like a plane ticket
When he turned me around, she made copies of my keys
She changed my site paper, supposedly ordered
Too many conclusions, for a not so miserable
He's gone
And from afar he keeps looking at me
I hope God mediates and things go well
Of what could have been, I don't even talk anymore
He's gone
And my house has returned the smell of summer
I have no agenda again and drink
In foreign sources, every time I go out
I towed my doubts full of desires so primal
I liked my grind, don't be true to your watch
I uttered the acclaimed little words of oblivion
From the beginning I knew it, I don't really know what stopped me
He's gone
And from afar he keeps looking at me
I hope God mediates and things go well
Of what could have been, I don't even talk anymore
He's gone
And my house has returned the smell of summer
I have no agenda again and drink
In foreign sources, every time I go out
He's gone
And my house has returned the smell of summer
I have no agenda again and drink
In foreign sources, every time I go out
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone
He's gone

Vanesa Martín sings about the relief after a relationship that never fit. It opens with a confession: "Era la primera vez que el corazón me dio la espalda" (it was the first time my heart turned its back on me). She forgave his outbursts and softened his "dulces garras" (sweet claws), "como si al quitarle hierro, lo malo fuera mejor" (as if by playing it down, the bad would be better). Quitarle hierro literally means "to take the iron out of something", a very Spanish way to say "to downplay".

The title line says he claimed her intentions "como un billete de avión" (like a plane ticket), as if her plans were his to book. The small details sting: he copied her keys and moved her papers around, "supuestamente ordenó" (supposedly tidied up). Then comes the chorus, "Ya se fue" (he's gone now), and the mood flips. "Y mi casa ha vuelto el olor a verano" (and the smell of summer is back in my house). She wishes him well, "Ojalá Dios medie y le vaya muy bien" (may God step in and may it go well for him), which is generous and a little pointed. Ojalá is worth learning: it is the go-to word for "I hope" or "if only". Her favourite part of freedom is going out with no plans at all, "vuelvo a no tener agenda" (I'm back to having no schedule).
