LAGUUUNAS Lyrics in English by David Rees
"LAGUUUNAS" is David Rees singing about blackouts in his own head. The title is the Spanish word lagunas, literally "lagoons", but in everyday Spanish tener lagunas means having memory gaps. The stretched-out spelling sounds like someone trying and failing to grab a memory that keeps slipping away.
It opens with "No recuerdo bien lo que hice ayer" (I don't really remember what I did yesterday) and gets more honest from there: he has taken pills "que me dejan en la silla" (that leave me stuck in the chair), and the good moments "se esfuman de mi memoria" (vanish from my memory). His fix is a funny one: he needs to learn some soldadura (welding) to patch up all these gaps. There is a gamer joke too, "No soy capaz de guardar la partida" (I can't save the game), as if his life had no save button.
The verses get more personal. He watches himself "en tercera persona" (in the third person), smiles "como que no pasa nada" (like nothing is wrong), and admits he told it all to his notebook, which is why he became a musician. Even his psychologist "no sabe arreglarme" (doesn't know how to fix me). He ends on something close to a plan: "Saborearlo hoy por si mañana vuela" (savour it today in case tomorrow it flies away). Heads up, there is one swear word: puta in "Ni soy una puta cámara" works like "I'm not a f*cking camera".
