"A Mi Favor" is Alex Zurdo, the Puerto Rican Christian rapper, giving God all the credit for turning his life around. It starts with a phone call: "Si no hubiera contestado, yo lo sé, todo fuese nada" (if I hadn't answered, I know it, everything would have been nothing). That call is the hinge of the whole song.
The imagery is all about thirst and wind. "El agua de vida me sació" (the water of life satisfied me), and then "me puso los vientos a mi favor" (he put the winds in my favor), which is where the title comes from. The best part is the paradox in the chorus: "Yo me quité pa que Dios se quedara" (I stepped aside so God could stay) and "Yo hice dejando de hacer" (I did by stopping doing). He insists "Aquí yo nada hice, fueron sus cicatrices" (I did nothing here, it was his scars), a clear nod to Jesus' wounds.
Learner tip: pa and pa'lante are casual Caribbean speech for para and para adelante (forward, keep going). And "De la A a la Z" is Alex Zurdo's own tag, playing on his initials.
