Verse 1

They want to make me what I'm not

But I keep going my own way

And I won't get lost, that's how it is

Wanting at all costs to change me

And over time take my freedom away

Luckily

I was able to do things differently

I choose to be me, plain and simple

Chorus 1

I'm like this and I'm good with it

You won't change me

I'm like that and that's just too bad

I live with nobody watching me

Like this, like that, no taboos

Nobody will stop me from following my own path

And from trusting my own hands

Verse 2

Listen, listen to it, that little voice

Listen closely to it, it guides your steps

With it, you can get away

From other people's dreams they'd like to force on you

Those words don't lie, no

It's your soul singing

Your melody, yours alone

Chorus 2

I'm like this and I'm good with it

You won't change me

I'm like that and that's just too bad

I live with nobody watching me

Like this, like that, no taboos

Nobody will stop me from following my own path

And from trusting my own hands

Bridge 1

If that's it, that's enough, that's how it is

It's like this, like that

Everybody knows it, that's for sure, we know that

It's like that, like this

Bridge 2

If that's it, that's enough, that's how it is

It's like this, like that

People know that, for sure, we know that

It's like that, like this

Chorus 3

I'm like this and I'm good with it

You won't change me

I'm like that and that's the way it is

I live with nobody watching me

Like this, like that, unafraid to want

Nobody will stop me from following my own path

To create what feels good to me

Outro 1

I'm like this

Like this, like that

Like that, like this

You won't stop me from following my own path

Outro 2

To create what feels good to me

From following my own path

And from trusting my own hands

If that's it, that's enough, that's how it is

It's like this, like that!

Comme ci, comme ça — So-so / Like this, like that

You might know comme ci, comme ça as the French way to say "so-so". But in this powerful anthem of self-acceptance, ZAZ completely reclaims the phrase.

She isn't saying her life is mediocre. Instead, she sings "Je suis comme ci... Je suis comme ça" ("I'm like this... I'm like that") to declare that she embraces all the different parts of her identity. It's a way of saying, "This is who I am, and I won't change."

ZAZ’s “Comme Ci, Comme Ça” is a joyful anthem of unapologetic self-expression. The singer brushes off anyone who tries to shape her into something she is not, proudly declaring, “Je suis comme ci… je suis comme ça” – I’m like this, I’m like that. Instead of bending to outside expectations, she tunes into her own inner voice, trusts her hands, and walks her own path. The repetitive chorus feels like a musical shrug that says, Take me or leave me, I’m fine either way!

Beneath its playful rhythm, the song delivers a powerful message: true freedom comes from embracing your quirks, your dreams, and your creative spark. ZAZ reminds us that life is too short for borrowed ambitions. Listen closely, follow your gut, and let your soul sing its very own melody – just comme ci, comme ça.
