Saiko opens with a hook that sounds sweet and stings a little: "siempre vuelves como las olas del mar" (you always come back like the waves of the sea). Then comes the line that sets the mood for the whole song: "Ojalá nunca sepas qué se siente despertar sintiendo que ya no sientes nada" (I hope you never know what it feels like to wake up feeling that you don't feel anything anymore). So this is a summer song with a hangover. The beach, the jet ski and the moon are all there, but the narrator is numb.
The title is éxtasis stretched out with extra s's, and the song plays with both meanings: ecstasy as pure pleasure and as the drug. "Colores en el cielo del paladar" (colours on the roof of my mouth) is a clever twist, because el cielo del paladar is literally "the sky of the palate", the Spanish name for the roof of your mouth. "Sentí que era éxtasi' hasta con ropa" (it felt like ecstasy even with clothes on) is blunt about the attraction. A fun detail for learners: Tuenti was a Spanish social network from the 2000s, so "como en 'Tuenti'" is a nostalgic nod to old profile photos, and Miata is the Mazda sports car with pop-up headlights, which is why her glowing eyes are compared to it. My favourite small heartbreak: "Ya no me saca de su playlist" (she still hasn't taken me off her playlist).
