Solo Un Eco Lyrics in English by Cultura Profética
Estruendo translates to "din," "roar," or "thunder." It's a strong, evocative word that describes a loud, tumultuous noise, often with a sense of chaos or impact.
In "Solo Un Eco," the artist uses estruendo metaphorically in the line "Y del estruendo de la intimidad, solo queda un eco." Here, it refers to the intense, perhaps overwhelming, and vibrant energy of a past intimate relationship. The word suggests that what was once a powerful, all-encompassing experience has now faded, leaving behind only a faint echo, highlighting the loss and the lingering memory of a profound connection.
"Solo Un Eco" ("Just an Echo") by Puerto Rican band Cultura Profética is a tender look at a relationship that has gone quiet. The singer believed he and his partner were living una vida plena, a full life together, and that their pacto de amor (pact of love) was meant to last. Now that pact hangs by a thread, and he feels there is no more shelter for him in her.
The chorus carries the heart of the song: "Quiero dormirme y despertar tres años atrás", he wants to fall asleep and wake up three years ago, when things were not perfect but there was affection, peace and real quality time. All that is left of their closeness is solo un eco, just an echo. Still, he refuses to give up: he asks "¿Dónde fallamos?" (Where did we go wrong?) and stays determined to solve the riddle so this love is not lost along the way.
It is a great song for practising the imperfect tense (había, era) used to describe how things used to be.
