Liberación is a Mexican grupero band formed in Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo León, in 1975, around the keyboard player Virgilio Canales Vela. They play romantic cumbias and ballads, the music that fills dance halls and family parties across northern Mexico.
Their catalogue runs to dozens of albums, and songs such as "Con El Corazón En La Mano" and "Se Me Olvidó Olvidarte" are still played on Mexican radio decades after their release.
The lyrics are direct and repeat their key lines often, which makes them easy to follow while you are still building vocabulary.
