Luister La Voz is Luis Carlos Cabeza de Avila, a Colombian singer and songwriter from Cartagena de Indias on the Caribbean coast. Born in 1998, he grew up surrounded by champeta, the coastal genre that came out of Cartagena's Afro-Caribbean neighbourhoods.
He began releasing singles independently in the late 2010s and built his audience through streaming and social platforms rather than radio. His sound blends champeta with urban production and romantic melody, the mix often called champeta urbana, and it keeps a strong coastal identity that has connected with younger listeners. A run of viral releases from 2023 onwards took him from a local name to a national one, and he has since held several songs on the Colombian charts at the same time.
