Brazilská zpěvačka Vanessa da Mata v písni Te Amo bojuje proti všem cynikům, kteří tvrdí, že láska za to nestojí. Vyrůstala totiž mezi lidmi, co trousili jízlivé vtipy a klišé o společném soužití: „Eu cresci ouvindo anedotas, clichês e chacotas“ (Vyrůstala jsem a poslouchala anekdoty, klišé a posměšky). V textu přímo narazíš na hovorový výraz amasiar (žít na hromádce / bydlet spolu bez svatby), který její okolí stavělo do stejného světla jako strach ze závazku. Vanessa ale tvrdí, že největší chyba není selhat, nýbrž to vzdát předem: „Mas o pior não é não conseguir / É desistir de tentar“ (Ale to nejhorší není neuspět, je to vzdát snahu).

I když si otevřeně klade nepříjemné otázky — třeba co když čas vztah rozloží a ona se v něm ztratí — přebíjí své obavy nádherným přirovnáním. Přirovnává lásku k slavnému obrazu: „nós somos um quadro de Klimt / 'O Beijo' para sempre fagulhando em cores“ (jsme Klimtův obraz, 'Polibek' navždy jiskřící barvami). Gustav Klimt byl rakouský malíř a jeho slavný obraz Polibek je plný zlatých tónů a objímajících se milenců. Právě takovou sílu Vanessa vidí ve své budoucnosti: představuje si, jak z nich jednou budou „dois velhos felizes de mãos dadas numa tarde de sol“ (dva šťastní staříci držící se za ruce v prosluněném odpoledni). Žádná cynická skepse, prostě čisté a upřímné Te amo (Miluji tě).
