Rubel is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Volta Redonda, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, born in 1991.
He grew up playing in bands as a teenager and studied film at PUC-Rio before turning fully to music, and that background shows in the cinematic, intimate feel of his songs.
His early records leaned on just his voice and guitar, built around soft, confessional songwriting that made him a distinctive new voice in MPB (Brazilian popular music).
Over the following albums he broadened his sound, bringing in rhythm, arrangement, and guest artists from Brazil's rap and alternative scenes, which earned him multiple Latin Grammy nominations.
Rubel often duets and collaborates with other well-known Brazilian artists, pairing his calm, sensual delivery with a wide range of musical styles.
He remains one of the more thoughtful voices in contemporary Brazilian music, known for lyrics that explore love, freedom, and vulnerability with unusual honesty.
