Lalo Rodríguez (born Ubaldo Rodríguez Santos; May 16, 1958 – December 13, 2022) was a celebrated Puerto Rican salsa singer and songwriter, known as a pioneer of Romantic Salsa. Bursting onto the music scene in the early 1970s, he gained recognition performing with legends like Eddie Palmieri and Machito before launching a successful solo career in the 1980s.
Rodríguez’s smooth vocals and charismatic stage presence shone in hits like Ven, Devórame Otra Vez, which won Tropical Song of the Year at the Lo Nuestro Awards. His contributions helped popularize Salsa romántica, blending sensual lyrics with classic dance rhythms.
