OSSESSIONE Lyrics in English by Samurai Jay
Ossessione translates directly to "obsession". It's a powerful and evocative word that immediately conveys a strong, consuming feeling.
In the context of the song, it's not just the title but also a central theme. The singer describes feeling the person "addosso / Come un'ossessione" (on me / Like an obsession), highlighting an intense, almost inescapable preoccupation with someone who is both desired and problematic. This word perfectly captures the song's emotional intensity and makes it highly enticing.
Samurai Jay is completely stuck on someone in "OSSESSIONE," and it's not a healthy situation. He knows nothing lasts forever—"Nulla è per sempre" [Nothing is forever]—but he can't get her scent off his skin. He's tormented by the thought that "Stai dormendo nel letto di un altro pure stasera" [You're sleeping in someone else's bed again tonight], and he's tired of the lies and the drama. He tries to focus on himself, but it's no use. She keeps coming back to him in his thoughts, an obsession he can't shake.
This isn't a love story; it's about a physical, almost painful, connection. He bluntly states, "Non è amore, è una malattia" [It's not love, it's a sickness]. Their relationship seems to exist only on weekends, for brief, intense moments. He knows it's a dead end because "Non può durare una vita intera / Una storia se fa solo male" [A story can't last a lifetime / If it only hurts]. In the end, he accepts that all they have is a physical connection, a "noche de sexo" [night of sex], but that doesn't stop the feeling from being a "maledetto" [damned thing] he can't get rid of.
