Péssimo Negócio (Ao Vivo) Lyrics in English by Dilsinho
Péssimo Negócio translates to "Terrible Deal" or "Bad Business". It's a striking phrase that serves as the title and a recurring theme in the song, making it highly memorable and central to the lyrics.
In the song, Dilsinho uses this phrase to describe the protagonist's regretful decision to trade a lasting love ("um pra sempre") for a fleeting adventure ("uma aventura"). It powerfully conveys the foolishness and heartbreak of making such a poor exchange in matters of the heart.
Have you ever made a mistake so big you immediately regretted it? That's exactly what Dilsinho is singing about in "Péssimo Negócio." He's kicking himself for messing up a great relationship. He says it took him "mil frases certas pra te conquistar" (a thousand right phrases to win you over) but only "uma só errada pra te perder" (just one wrong one to lose you). He's so frustrated that he starts talking to his own heart, asking it how it could possibly make such a terrible deal.
He calls his mistake a "péssimo negócio" (terrible deal) because he traded something amazing for something temporary. As he puts it, he traded "um pra sempre por às vezes" (a forever for a sometimes). He compares his ex to a diamond he just threw away, admitting it was pure "burrice" (stupidity). And the result? His ex told him she "não quer mais conversa" (doesn't want to talk anymore), leaving him with the final, blunt advice: "Agora dorme com essa" (Now sleep with that), which is a great Brazilian way of saying, "Now you have to live with what you've done."
