Insomnie Lyrics in English by Mélanie Laurent
Insomnie directly translates to "insomnia" in English. It's the title of the song and a central theme throughout the lyrics, making it highly relevant and memorable.
The word itself is quite evocative, immediately setting a mood of sleeplessness and longing. While the concept of insomnia is universal, the French word has a certain elegance and directness that makes it stand out, perfectly encapsulating the song's narrative of restless nights and internal struggles.
Have you ever tossed and turned all night, staring at the ceiling and wishing for sleep? In her song "Insomnie," which is French for insomnia, actress and singer Mélanie Laurent perfectly captures this frustrating experience. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a long, dreamless night. She describes her eyes feeling "filled with sand" while her mind races, making "pathetic assessments" of her life. The night is a battle, and the bed becomes a warzone with sheets "worn out from making war."
As the hours fly by and dawn suddenly appears, the struggle doesn't end. The song questions how many more nights, how many more regrets, and even how many more "pills" it will take to find rest. The exhaustion carries into the next day, which becomes another fight "to not lower my weapons." The song ends with a clever image: the evening arrives with a suitcase, and inside, neatly folded between two shirts, is the unwelcome guest of insomnia, ready for another night.
