"Daños" (Damage) is a song about someone deciding the hurt stops with them. It opens with a list of wants that all bump into a wall: "Quiero gritar, pero el dolor calló mi voz" (I want to scream, but the pain silenced my voice), "Quiero sentir, porque no siento el corazón" (I want to feel, because I can't feel my heart). The only safe place he can picture is "metido en mi canción" (inside my song).
Then he explains where it comes from, and it is blunt. "Crecí llorando promesas rotas" (I grew up crying over broken promises), so he learned "a no cumplir las propias" (not to keep my own). Later the childhood gets sharper: "Dormí sin cuentos, comí las sobras de padres lentos y madres sordas" (I slept without bedtime stories, I ate the leftovers of slow fathers and deaf mothers). Nobody read to him, nobody listened.
The chorus is the turn. "Voy a hacer base acá" (I'm going to settle down here) uses hacer base, literally "to make base", to mean putting down roots. He hopes his loneliness "con un hijo sanará" (will heal with a child), then admits "o eso espero yo" (or so I hope), which is the most honest line in the song. It ends on a promise: "No quiero más engaños, no quiero daños, nunca más" (No more lies, no more damage, never again).
Learner tip: acá is the Argentine and Latin American way of saying "here", where Spain would usually say aquí.
