Kimberose is a French soul band formed in Chantilly in 2015 around singer Kimberly Kitson Mills, who was born in Athis-Mons in 1991 to an English father and a Ghanaian mother. She has named Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as the record that first pulled her in, and her bandmates brought her to the older soul singers.
The singles "About Us" and "I'm Sorry" came first, and a performance on the France 2 music show Taratata in 2017 brought the band to a much wider audience. Their debut album, Chapter One, followed in March 2018, sung in English around a voice that owes more to classic soul than to French pop.
