Money decides who gets respect, appearances decide the rest, and as long as you keep the mask on, "si eres cagada, nadie se da cuenta" [if you're a piece of shit, nobody notices]. When he does find loyalty he names it carefully rather than generally: his mother, "Que nunca me ha fallado" [who has never let me down], and exactly one friend who "se ganó el lugar" [earned his place] and gets called brother without sharing any blood.
The advice half is blunter and a lot funnier. People ask you for a hand, and then "Quieren mocharte el pie" / "Nada más para ver después como caminas" [they want to chop off your foot, just to watch how you walk afterwards]. He is not bitter about money itself, though, which is what keeps the song from turning into a sulk. "Dinero hay para todos" [there is money out there for everyone], he says, and the real problem is that "no a todos les cae bien un peso" [not everyone handles a peso well]. Then the last two lines drop the cynicism completely and thank God for health, which after three minutes of naming everything fake is the one thing he says straight.
