Raúl Beltrán grew up in El Dorado, a town outside Culiacán in Sinaloa, and was already singing at family parties by the age of nine. He spent his teens playing with norteño groups like Impacto Norteño and Quinto Orden, went solo in 2016 under the name Romeo Beltrán, and switched back to his own name in 2021 as a tribute to his late father.
Winning Estrella TV's talent contest Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento in 2022 got him a record deal and a much bigger audience. He writes for other people as much as for himself, with Grupo Firme, El Bebeto and Banda Los Sebastianes all cutting his songs. He calls his own lane corridos metafísicos, which in practice means the sierreño and corridos tumbados sound pointed at worry, money and who you can actually trust instead of at guns.
