Norrlands Glimmande Guld Lyrics in English by Engmans Kapell
Farstubro literally translates to "porch bridge" or "front steps bridge". It's a charmingly specific word that evokes a clear image of a traditional Swedish home's entrance, often with a small set of steps and a landing.
In the song, the narrator arrives at his beloved's "farstubro" without the promised gold, highlighting his humble circumstances and the contrast between his grand intentions and his current reality. It's a unique and evocative word that paints a vivid picture of the scene.
Have you ever wanted to give someone the world? In this heartfelt song, our singer promises his beloved a fantastic treasure: Norrlands glimmande guld, or "the shimmering gold of Norrland." This refers to the idea of finding real gold in the rivers of Norrland, a beautiful and wild region in northern Sweden. He's so determined to win this fortune for her that he gambles everything he has... and loses it all.
He returns to her with nothing but torn shoes and a debt from a poker game. He feels he has failed and has nothing left to give. But then comes the beautiful twist! He realizes that the most valuable treasure isn't something you can find in a river. In the end, he tells her, "Du är Norrlands glimmande guld"... You are the shimmering gold of Norrland. The song is a powerful reminder that true love is the most precious treasure of all.
