Aarón y Su Grupo Ilusión is a Mexican cumbia group formed in the early 1990s in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, in the State of Mexico. The band was founded by brothers Rafael and Alfredo González, who built a romantic style of cumbia sonidera with touches of Colombian vallenato.
In 1993 the brothers lost their younger sibling, Aarón, to a cerebral hemorrhage, and they added his name to the group as a lasting tribute. The band's breakthrough came in 1996 with the single "No Voy a Llorar," which topped popularity charts in Mexico and reached Mexican audiences in the United States, leading to a recording contract with the label Disa.
Since then, Aarón y Su Grupo Ilusión has released more than 20 studio albums and become one of the most recognizable names in Mexican romantic cumbia, with hits like "El Reloj Cucú" and "Te Vas" keeping their music popular across generations.
