Hi recipe guys and gals!
Today we're going to make a snack that I think doesn't even need an intro!
Some cheese fingers or sticks!
For that, we'll need a block like this of our favorite soft cheese
Like Gouda or mozzarella. I'm using Emmental
What we're going to do with it is cut it into strips about 2 cm thick
So they end up around the size of the index finger
But a rather thick finger, not like mine. More like Shrek's finger!
Once the cheese is ready we're going to put egg in a deep plate
We add a small pinch of salt
And with a fork we give it a good thrash for a few seconds and beat it well
Then, one by one we're going to coat the cheese sticks well with egg
Next, we roll them in breadcrumbs
You can buy the breadcrumbs or make them with stale bread you have at home
Now, we're going to dip the stick again in beaten egg so that it gets well covered!
And again roll it in breadcrumbs!
By dunking it twice in egg and breadcrumbs we'll get a super crunchy outer layer
And once it's well breaded, we set the sticks aside on a plate until we've breaded them all
Then we'll let them rest in the fridge for an hour
After that time, we're going to fry the cheese sticks in plenty of very hot oil
We'll fry them about a minute, until they're nicely golden outside
When time's up we take them out of the oil and place them on paper towels before wolfing them down
If you love cheese they're so good you'll eat the plate too!
And as a result, we'll have this
authentic ambrosia of the Greek gods!
