Picture a neon soaked Friday night where everyone’s secrets spill onto the pavement. Gatos Celestes drops us right at the club door, introducing pickpockets on the prowl, suit-and-tie flirts hiring forbidden favors, undercover cops who fool no one, and turbocharged cars screeching in competitive circles. Melendi narrates the scene like a mischievous storyteller, letting the moon raise a playful toast to the bottles while the bathroom echoes with “spaghetti-western” gunshots.
Yet the real focus is on those “celestial cats” perched on the rooftops. They are the misunderstood outsiders, prowling above the chaos, half escaping themselves and half escaping the world. By night they gather in back alleys trading exaggerated tales of love and survival, revealing longing beneath their bravado. Through this bustling snapshot of nightlife, the song reminds us that under every mask – criminal, cop, partygoer, or stray cat – beats a heart searching for belonging and a little bit of light.
Melendi (Ramón Melendi Espina) is a Spanish singer and songwriter from Oviedo whose sound blends pop, rumba, and pop rock. He broke through with his debut album Sin noticias de Holanda in 2003, and his single "Con la luna llena" became the official theme of the 2004 Vuelta a España.
His catalog mixes catchy hooks with heartfelt, streetwise storytelling, including the Real Oviedo anthem "Volveremos." He has also appeared as a coach on La Voz Kids in Mexico. In 2025 he celebrated two decades on stage with the "20 años sin noticias" tour, drawing huge crowds across Spain.
