There's only a few minutes left in my life
At most a few hours, I feel I'm fading
My brother died yesterday in the middle of the desert
I'm now the last human on earth
They once told me, when I was a kid
what the world looked like a very, very long time ago
when the parents of my great-grandfather were alive
and snow still fell in winter
Back then people lived by the rhythm of the seasons
and the end of summer brought the harvest
Pure, clear water ran through the streams
where deer and moose came to drink
But I've seen nothing but a desolate planet
lunar landscapes and suffocating heat
and all my friends dying from thirst or hunger
like flies dropping
until there was nothing left

It all started many years ago
when my ancestors were obsessed
with bits of paper they called money
that made some men really rich and powerful
And these new gods, stopping at nothing
were ready to do anything to get what they wanted
To get even richer they leveled the earth
polluted the air and dried up the rivers
But after a hundred years people rose up
and warned them it all had to stop
but they didn't grasp that wise prophecy
those men talked only in terms of profit
Years later they saw the nonsense
panicking, they declared a state of emergency
when all the oceans swallowed the islands
and floods hit the big cities
and afterward, for a whole decade
it was hurricanes and then fires
earthquakes and the great drought
distress was written on faces everywhere
people had to fight against pandemics
decimated by the millions by atrocious diseases
then the rest died from thirst or hunger
like flies dropping
until there was nothing left
