Things are slowly getting tight
The twenty-seven club
I clearly missed it
Through the city at 180
Balancing drunk on the roof
A thousand bottles of liquor
But then comes the first Friday night
When you fit in, go to bed early
So you still have something left of Saturday
That's how it starts, just
A completely relaxed weekend
Easy easy, and then comes
The first couple's vacation
Ironically intended stuffiness
Anti-escalation, pro-coziness
It starts quite harmlessly
But ends in conversations
Someday it'll be too late
Someday I'll be too old
Too old to die young
I really tried
Really tried, believe me
But maybe not good enough
The first ones live outside the city
Because of the kids, better area
But It's great that this is finally working out
We haven't seen each other in ages
The first barbecues, weddings
Class reunions, wine tastings
Lead pouring on New Year's Eve
Receipts instead of plastic bongs
International for the first time
Then it's just a short walk to the fan mile
No more talking about politics
We'll just argue again
Becoming acquaintances from the past
Someday it'll be too late
Someday I'll be too old
Too old to die young
I really tried
Really tried, believe me
But maybe not good enough
And now I'm almost thirty
What if the best phase
of my life is already over
Who knows, maybe I'm having a
Maybe I'm just
Just a little bit jealous
Maybe I secretly wish for
A little house in the countryside, too
Maybe I'll miss it at some point
Then I won't even miss the small stages anymore
Maybe I'd be up for it
To put up with all this nonsense
Maybe it won't be so bad
