Ever felt a love that crackles like electricity—thrilling one second and shattering the next? “Ensemble,” sung by Canadian artist Cœur de Pirate, dives head-first into that roller-coaster romance. The narrator remembers bodies pressed côte contre côte and laughter that once drowned out ego, yet she watches the same passion morph into chaos. Walls literally quake with arguments, and every shout chips away at a story that could have been beautiful. In clever wordplay, she reminds us that ensemble (together) now rhymes with désordre (disorder), turning the idea of unity on its head.

Beneath the melodic piano lies a blunt confession: the partner’s self-destructive habits and tangled lies have replaced harmony with regret. Each verse peels back fresh wounds, showing how closeness can hurt when trust is missing. Still, the song’s heartbeat is hopeful—it urges listeners to recognize when love becomes discord and to protect the parts of themselves that should endure “à jamais.” Expect a bittersweet blend of vulnerability and strength, wrapped in Cœur de Pirate’s signature poetic French.

Cœur de Pirate is the stage name of Béatrice Martin, a French-Canadian singer-songwriter from Montreal, Quebec. Born in 1989, she started playing piano at the age of three and trained at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec before beginning her music career as a teenager.

She rose to fame in 2008 with her self-titled debut album and its hit single "Comme des enfants," quickly becoming one of the most beloved francophone artists in both Canada and Europe. Known for her delicate voice and heartfelt, piano-driven pop, she sings mostly in French and has helped bring la chanson française to a new generation. "Cavale" captures the wistful, story-driven songwriting that has made her a defining voice in modern Quebec music.
