Hear a maiden's plea
From this rock rigid and wild
My prayer shall waft to you
We'll sleep safely till morning
Though people are still so cruel
O virgin, see the maiden's sorrows
O mother, hear a pleading child!
When we sink down on this rock
To sleep, and your protection covers us
The hard rock will seem soft to us
You smile, rose scents waft
In this musty rocky cleft
O mother, hear a child's pleas
O virgin, a maiden calls!
Demons of earth and air
Are driven off by your eye's grace
They can't dwell here with us
We'll quietly bow to fate
Since your holy comfort breathes on us
Be gracious, incline yourself to the maiden
To the child who pleads for the father
