añejao'aged

Añejao' is a colloquial form of "añejado," which means 'aged' or 'matured.' It's a term often associated with fine wines, spirits, or cheeses, implying quality that improves with time.

In this song, Anuel AA uses it to describe his "flow" (style or swagger) as being "añejao' como un buen cabernet" (aged like a good cabernet). This metaphor elevates his artistic style, suggesting it has developed and refined over time, becoming more potent and respected, much like a vintage wine.

"North Carolina" is Anuel AA and Eladio Carrión trading boasts over a hard reggaeton beat. Both rappers open on distrust and self-reliance ("I don't trust even my own shadow"), then pivot into flexing: fast cars, designer clothes, and a lifestyle built on staying a step ahead of anyone who doubts them.

The title nods to Michael Jordan's college years at North Carolina, one of several sports references (Kevin Garnett, LeBron and Pau Gasol, Roberto Clemente, Neymar) the two rappers use to compare their own dominance to legends of basketball, baseball and soccer.

Underneath the bravado sits real paranoia: lines about police stopping a car full of drugs, an old cemetery, and enemies always watching. It's a song about celebrating success while never fully letting your guard down.

Anuel AA (born Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago on November 26, 1992, in Carolina, Puerto Rico) is a pioneering Puerto Rican rapper and singer, often hailed as "The God of Latin Trap." Starting his music journey at just fourteen, Anuel AA quickly gained attention for his raw lyrical style and honest storytelling, reflecting his life experiences growing up in the streets.

Despite a 30-month prison sentence in 2016 for illegal firearm possession, Anuel recorded his debut album Real Hasta la Muerte while incarcerated, which catapulted him to stardom upon his release in 2018. Known for chart-topping hits like "China" and collaborations with stars such as Daddy Yankee, Karol G, and Shakira, Anuel AA continues to redefine Latin trap and reggaeton with his emotionally charged music and distinctive voice.
