navigante — navigator

Navigante translates to "navigator" or "seafarer". It's a less common word than simply "sailor" and evokes a sense of journey and exploration.

In the song, the singer declares, "Sarò navigante tra nuvole e vento" (I will be a navigator between clouds and wind). This metaphor beautifully expresses his commitment to overcome any obstacles and journey through life's complexities to return to his loved one, making it a powerful and evocative choice.

"Il Sole Ad Est" ("The Sun in the East") is a tender song about longing across distance. The singer imagines himself as a sailor watching the waves and a lighthouse fade behind him, homesick for the warmth of the person waiting for him.

Even out at sea, surrounded by clouds and wind, he carries that person in his heart like the rising sun in the east: a fixed point that always guides him home. However complicated life gets, he keeps returning to the same promise, that no matter where the journey takes him, he will always come back.

Alberto Urso performed this ballad at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2020, and its imagery of the sea, the horizon and the lighthouse runs through the whole song as a metaphor for a love that endures distance and time.
