Voltaj is one of Romania's most successful and long running rock bands. They formed in Bucharest in 1982 and started out on the heavier side of rock, becoming one of the earliest names in the country's rock and metal scene.
The lineup changed many times over the years, and a turning point came in 1998 when singer Calin Goia joined and moved their sound toward a warmer, more melodic pop rock style. That shift turned them into a household name across Romania, with hits like "20", "De maine" and "De la capat". In 2015 Voltaj represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest with "De la capat / All Over Again", a heartfelt song that also raised awareness about Romanian children left at home while their parents work abroad.
