Meleğim — My angel

Meleğim is a Turkish word meaning "my angel." While the song is primarily in French, Soolking, an Algerian artist, incorporates this beautiful Turkish term of endearment.

It's a unique and tender word that stands out in the lyrics, highlighting the deep affection and adoration the singer has for his partner. Its inclusion adds a touch of cross-cultural charm and makes it particularly memorable.

This song is a total power couple anthem! Soolking and Dadju are singing about being out with their partners and feeling like the best-looking, most stylish people in the room. The title, "Meleğim," is Turkish for "my angel," and that's exactly how they see their partners. They feel so proud that they shine, or as they put it, "quand tu marches à mes côtés, je frime" (when you walk by my side, I show off).

They know everyone is watching them, especially on social media—"Ils veulent nous voir sur les réseaux / J'vais leur donner" (They want to see us on social media / I'm going to give it to them). Instead of hiding, they lean into it, declaring that compared to everyone else, they're on another level: "Pas l'même style, pas l'même seille-o, pas le même niveau" (Not the same style, not the same money, not the same level). It's a bold celebration of love, success, and looking so good together that it makes other people jealous.

Soolking is an Algerian rapper and singer, born Abderraouf Deradji in 1989 in Staoueli, a coastal suburb of Algiers. He grew up around music thanks to his father, a percussionist, and performed under the name MC Sool before settling on the stage name Soolking.

He built his early career in Algeria with the rap group Africa Jungle before moving to France and launching a solo career in 2016, signing with Sofiane's label Affranchis Music. Soolking's sound blends hip-hop, reggae, R&B, and raï, the traditional Algerian folk style, giving his socially conscious lyrics a distinctly North African, French urban feel.

He broke through with his 2018 debut album "Fruit du Démon," certified Gold in France, followed by hits like "Milano" and "Dalida." Songs like "Sans Visa" reflect his recurring themes: the struggles of Algerian youth, migration, and the determination to build a better life without waiting for anyone's permission.
