Tachycardies is the plural of “tachycardie,” a medical term for abnormally fast heartbeats. It’s a striking, almost clinical word you rarely hear in lyrics.
Pomme sings that after midnight she “dances to the rhythm of tachycardies,” turning a medical condition into a vivid metaphor for anxiety and restless energy. Learning this word introduces you to a perfect blend of poetic imagery and real-world French vocabulary.
Welcome to Pomme’s sleepless universe! In Ceux Qui Rêvent ("Those Who Dream"), the French singer invites us to slip under her blanket of insomnia, where the night is anything but peaceful. Stars become tiny pinholes in a black canvas, sheep turn into spooky funeral figures, and the ticking clock at midnight feels like a countdown to an endless mind-marathon. As her thoughts spiral, she compares her racing heart to a wild dance floor and even wonders if science could switch her brain off for a while—anything to escape the cosmic boredom stretching across her bed.
Yet beneath the dark humor and dreamy images lies a tender confession: people who can simply fall asleep and dream are incredibly lucky. For Pomme, night is a restless landscape filled with existential questions, surreal metaphors, and a touch of melancholy poetry. The song paints insomnia as both a curse and a twisted kind of adventure, making us feel the weight of every restless sigh while celebrating the fragile beauty of a mind that just won’t quit.
Pomme is the stage name of Claire Pommet, a singer and songwriter born in 1996 near Lyon, France. She began solfège lessons at six and sang in a children's choir before turning to guitar, drawing early on chanson artists like Michel Polnareff that her father played around the house. She played her first Paris show at La Boule Noire in 2017, the same year she released her debut album, À peu près, which reached the French charts.
Her second album, Les failles, came out in 2019 and gave her a French top ten album. She has won two Victoires de la Musique, in 2020 and 2021, and followed with the albums Consolation, En cavale, and Saisons. In 2024 she recorded music with Stromae for Netflix's animated series Arcane. She married Quebecois singer Safia Nolin in 2022, after the two first met and dated back in 2016.
