coqueto — flirtatious / coquettish

Coqueto translates to "flirtatious" or "coquettish". It's a fantastic word to describe someone, usually a man, who is charming and enjoys playfully flirting.

In this corrido, Peso Pluma embraces this persona amidst a wild night out. He sings, "Sí, soy bien coqueto, pero a ti te quiero" (Yes, I'm very flirtatious, but it's you I love/want), using the word to admit his flirty nature while also declaring his affection for someone special. It's a fun and expressive word that perfectly captures the song's confident vibe.

Peso Pluma and Tito Double P roll out a high-speed corrido tumbado that puts you right in the passenger seat of an all-night party. The scene kicks off immediately with luxury and nightlife: Voy por la noche arriba en el Porsche [I'm driving through the night in the Porsche], wearing Dolce & Gabbana, and hitting clubs past midnight with whiskey in hand. It is flashy, loud, and totally focused on the rush of expensive cars, money (Que el billete se note [Make sure the cash shows]), and chaotic night scenes.

What makes the track stick is the sheer amount of Mexican street slang they pack into every bar. When Peso Pluma brags, ando bien locote, fajada la corta [I'm totally crazy, the handgun tucked in my belt], he describes custom grips covered in pink-shining diamonds. He throws around words like malandro [troublemaker/street-smart rogue] to say yo sé que se nota [I know it shows], while chirris refers to a little joint paired with la mota [weed]. Between smoking, sharing hits directly mouth-to-mouth (pide que pase el humito en la boca [she asks me to blow the smoke into her mouth]), and shouting out their crew with ¡Arriba México! and la Double P, the whole track runs on pure adrenaline and nightlife bravado.

Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija was born in Zapopan, Jalisco in 1999, grew up in Guadalajara, and taught himself guitar at fifteen off YouTube tutorials. As Peso Pluma he sings corridos tumbados: Sinaloan sierreño guitars underneath, the cadence and swagger of hip hop on top. His voice is a thin nasal rasp nobody would call pretty, and in 2023 it made him the fifth most-streamed artist on Spotify worldwide.

He arrived through features, "El Belicón" with Raúl Vega and then "AMG" and "PRC" with Natanael Cano, before "Ella Baila Sola" with Eslabón Armado reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023, the first regional Mexican song ever inside that top 10. Génesis won Best Música Mexicana Album at the 2024 Grammys, and the 24-track double album Éxodo followed with Cardi B, Quavo and Rich the Kid along for the urbano half. He runs his own label, Double P Records, and closed 2025 with Dinastía, a joint album with his cousin Tito Double P that went straight to No. 1 on Top Latin Albums and filled 30 US arenas in 2026, Madison Square Garden included.
