Dor is a uniquely Romanian word, often considered untranslatable, that encapsulates a deep sense of longing, yearning, or an ache for something or someone absent. It's more profound than simple nostalgia; it's a bittersweet feeling of missing something intensely.
In the song, the lyric "Din toate clipele mi-e dor doar de una" (Of all the moments, I only long for one) perfectly captures this sentiment. It refers to the specific summer when the singer found love, highlighting how powerful and memorable that particular moment was, and how deeply it is missed.
This song is a nostalgic look back at one perfect summer. The singer remembers a time when he was so happy and in love that he didn't even want to sleep, because as he says, "Simțeam că miza-i prea mare" (I felt the stakes were too high). At first, he was hesitant, admitting, "N-am vrut să te cunosc" (I didn't want to know you), but he quickly fell for this person he thought could only exist in daydreams.
The whole song is built around this one memory. He sings, "Din toate clipele mi-e dor doar de una / Vara în care m-ai găsit" (Of all the moments, I only miss one / The summer you found me). The feeling was so intense that he wanted to stop time and hide from the world in his lover's eyes. Now, he feels stuck in that past moment, wondering if he'll ever be able to live in the present again. It's a sweet and sad song about a love so good, it makes the rest of life feel a little less real.
