origami — origami

Origami is actually a Japanese word, borrowed into Italian and English alike, referring to the traditional art of folding paper into intricate shapes and figures without cutting or gluing it. It carries connotations of childhood creativity, patience, and delicate craftsmanship.

In "Paura del Buio," Mr.Rain sings "Da piccolo sognavo origami di carta" ("As a child I dreamed of paper origami"), using the image of folded paper shapes to evoke the innocence and imagination of childhood dreams. The word adds a fragile, delicate quality to the nostalgic memory being described.

Mr.Rain's "PAURA DEL BUIO" is a really personal journey through his past and how he's grown. He starts by remembering being a kid, dreaming of paper origami, but then everything "è andato tutto in fumo" [went up in smoke]. He thought his heart was a weapon he didn't want to use, and he'd climb on the roof before dawn, watching the sky like an astronaut. He even admits he had "gli occhi già pieni di rabbia" [eyes already full of anger], thinking he'd change the world, but now the world is changing him.

But the song isn't just about looking back; it's about finding strength. The chorus, "Non ho più paura del buio" [I'm no longer afraid of the dark], is so powerful. He sings about how even if he has nothing, "Non pioverà per sempre" [It won't rain forever]. He talks about how the monsters that seemed real as a kid are now helping him, and music has always been his shield. It's a hopeful message about overcoming past fears and finding someone, or something, to face the future with, even if that someone is just himself.
