CongelĂ©monos — Let's freeze ourselves

Congelémonos is a unique command form of the verb 'congelar' (to freeze), meaning "Let's freeze ourselves". It's a poetic and memorable word that you won't hear in everyday conversation.

In the song, Morat sings "Congelémonos juntos frente al mar" (Let's freeze ourselves together in front of the sea). This isn't about being cold; it's a beautiful metaphor for stopping time and preserving a perfect, fleeting moment forever, like a photograph. This single word perfectly captures the song's bittersweet theme of savoring a love that might not last.

This song by the Colombian band Morat is all about a summer romance that has a definite expiration date. The singer knows their time together is short, saying, "Lo nuestro no es por siempre, pero es todavĂa" (Our thing isn't forever, but it still is). He feels the end approaching as summer fades in Andalusia, Spain: "Septiembre llega y nuestra historia se me escapa de las manos" (September arrives and our story slips through my hands).

Instead of being sad about the ending, the song has a powerful message: live completely in the present moment. The chorus is a promise to not hold anything back, just in case this is the last time they see each other. He sings, "No me guardarĂ© besos para dar / Por si no te vuelvo a ver" (I won't save any kisses to give / In case I don't see you again). It's a beautiful, urgent plea to experience everything together, to leave no stories untold, and to create a perfect memory—to "CongelĂ©monos juntos frente al mar" (Let's freeze ourselves together in front of the sea)—before they have to go their separate ways.

The four of Morat met at school in BogotĂĄ, Colombia, and were playing as Malta by late 2011, renamed before the first record. Juan Pablo Isaza sings and plays guitar, Juan Pablo Villamil plays the banjo that gives their pop its country tilt, and the Vargas brothers hold the bottom end, SimĂłn on bass and MartĂn on percussion.

They broke out in 2015, first on Paulina Rubio's "Mi nuevo vicio" and then with their own "Cómo te atreves". Sobre el amor y sus efectos secundarios (2016) led to Balas perdidas (2018), a number one in Spain and Mexico with "Besos en guerra" alongside Juanes plus "No se va", which Grupo Frontera's 2022 cover turned into their most-streamed song. ¿A dónde vamos? (2021) and Si ayer fuera hoy (2022) followed, then Ya es mañana (2025), their first Latin Grammy winner, for Best Pop/Rock Album. Its tour opened with six nights at Bogotå's Movistar Arena in August 2026, and a May 2026 duet with Silvestre Dangond, "Lo poco que yo quiero", previews a second volume.
