Brindar — to toast

Brindar means 'to toast,' as in raising a glass to celebrate something. It's the perfect word for any party or festive gathering!

In "Dulce Navidad," Morat sings, "Brindar por lo vivido y lo mucho que vendrá" (To toast for what has been lived and for all that will come). It's a beautiful expression of gratitude for the past and hope for the future, capturing the true spirit of the holidays.

“Dulce Navidad” feels like stepping into a house full of twinkling lights and delicious smells. Morat, the beloved pop-folk band from Colombia, teams up with Mexican star Danna Paola to paint Christmas as a time when every road leads back to loved ones. The chorus repeats like cheerful carolers at your door, inviting everyone to celebrar con alegría, keep singing, and head over to a lively party where forgiveness, gratitude, and friendship are on the guest list.

The lyrics highlight what really makes the season sweet: sharing dinner and stories around a crowded table, laughing so hard that tears roll, and raising a glass to both memories and future dreams. Beyond the ribbons and lights, the song reminds us that Christmas is a yearly checkpoint where we plant new ideas, heal old rifts, and discover how much we can give simply by embracing one another.

The four of Morat met at school in Bogotá, Colombia, and were playing as Malta by late 2011, renamed before the first record. Juan Pablo Isaza sings and plays guitar, Juan Pablo Villamil plays the banjo that gives their pop its country tilt, and the Vargas brothers hold the bottom end, Simón on bass and Martín on percussion.

They broke out in 2015, first on Paulina Rubio's "Mi nuevo vicio" and then with their own "Cómo te atreves". Sobre el amor y sus efectos secundarios (2016) led to Balas perdidas (2018), a number one in Spain and Mexico with "Besos en guerra" alongside Juanes plus "No se va", which Grupo Frontera's 2022 cover turned into their most-streamed song. ¿A dónde vamos? (2021) and Si ayer fuera hoy (2022) followed, then Ya es mañana (2025), their first Latin Grammy winner, for Best Pop/Rock Album. Its tour opened with six nights at Bogotá's Movistar Arena in August 2026, and a May 2026 duet with Silvestre Dangond, "Lo poco que yo quiero", previews a second volume.
